Year 7 entry
Year 7 academic scholars will display talent, enthusiasm and potential in their academic lives.
The programme will provide scholars with:
- Automatic enrolment onto the Academic Excellence Programme
- A fully funded trip each year to an engaging venue to broaden their academic horizons
- Weekly academic development seminars with a senior member of staff to stretch and challenge scholars
- Support and guidance sharing with the school and wider community to help them develop their communication skills and articulacy
- Termly one-to-one mentoring session with a senior member of staff
Expectations:
- Mentor younger pupils via the Prep School’s Year 7-8 Academic Mentor system
- Be ambassadors for the school's academic culture
- Demonstrate engagement, punctuality and passion for academic development

PREpARING FOR ASSESSMENT
Application deadline: Friday 6th November 2026
- A reference will be sought from your current school
- Portfolio preparation: identify three or four pieces of classwork completed at school which you would like to bring to discuss in your interview. These could be pieces you are particularly proud of or from which you feel you have learned a lot
- No rigorous revision needed; exams align with standard Year 6 National Curriculum
Scholarship Assessment Day
Assessment date: Monday 7th December 2026
The content of exams will sit broadly in line with Year 6 National Curriculum allowing for stretch. The English paper will cover comprehension and creative writing skills. If a school has used an alternative specification, papers can be modified to more closely cover content that has been taught.
- 45 minute Maths exam
- 45 minute English exam
- Interview with senior members of academic team discussing portfolio (see above)
- Collaborative Science activity
