13+ Monktonian
Year 9 entry
The Monktonian Award is presented to individuals who make a profound impact within their year group. This award recognises students whose character and presence positively influence their peers.
The programme will provide a scholar with:
- Targeted development in areas that most inspire them
- Termly mentorship overseen by member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
- Regular 1:1 sessions with specialist teachers
- Annual report to parents
Expectations
- Engagement with different areas of schoo life, drawing others in through their example
- Involvement in mentoring younger pupils
- Model Monkton values of humility, service, confidence & integrity within the life of the school
preparing for assessment
Application deadline: Friday 15th January 2027
By the application deadline submit to Admissions:
a piece to camera of no more than 90 seconds
- introducing yourself
- talking about what you enjoy inside and outside school
- how you seek to contribute positively to your peers - the ways you build relationships with different kinds of people, including those who you might not naturally connect with
an open reference from someone at your school, youth group, or an external club or organisation, who knows you well and can offer further insight into the way you interact with others.
The reference should comment particularly on:
- your character and personal qualities
- the influence you have on your peers and the wider community
- your ability to build positive relationships with others
Scholarship Assessment Day
Assessment: week commencting 25th January 2027
- Interview with the Principal
- Interview with Assistant Head
- Group Activity
- Deliver a presentation on the day to current award holders on an area of personal interest
